Fashion Plates

Blue jeans or petticoat, mini or maxi, leather or fur, hippie-look or recognized classics, nothing is so fleeting as today's fashion, no matter in Germany or elsewhere in the world. However, it was absolutely different in early 1900s. Men's clothes used to be 'stamped' according to one standard - a suit and a tie, which is still alive today, but is no longer dominant of course. There wasn't much diversity in women's fashion either - clothes were produced mostly in black and brown out of practical reasons, because of absence of such necessary washing-machines. Clothes and pullovers were basically hand-made.

Only in the 20s ready-to-wear clothes appeared in shops. Ever since that time fashion industry has greatly developed and nowadays one can hardly imagine a city without a boutique of some famous designer, or merely a ready-made shop.

To explore the fashion life of Germany, start from German Fashion Guide, introducing you into the exciting world of clothes for women and men, sports- and beachwear, and special sections dedicated to brides' fashion, leather and furs, countryside fashion, fashion tips for teenagers and kids.
